vlctest: updated to 0.9.5. The ffmpeg and x264 sanpshots have also been
updated to their latest version. The qt-4.4.3 library has (again) been
statically compiled-in. This makes the package bigger, but the vlc
developers assured me you should not try to make vlc run with another
version of QT than it was compiled with.
Also, I am contemplating renaming 'vlctest' to 'vlc' and moving 'vlc' to
'vlc_old', now that the developers have announced they will no longer
  support the old 0.8.x series.

vlctest: updated to 0.9.4 - Support was added for 'formatted' subtitle
display. The ffmpeg and live555 libraries were updated to their latest
  versions.
*NOTE* starting with this build, the VLC package no longer contains the QT4
gui library. You need to install a separate QT4 package (if you run
slackware-current you can switch to KDE4 which has QT4, otherwise get a qt4
package from my own repository that will co-exist with your existing QT3).
This reduces the size of the package as well as the time to build it. Also,
many people will have QT4 available already.
*NOTE* this is still the package that lacks patented encoders for MP3, AAC
and AMR. Rebuild VLC if you want to add these encoders, or download my
  package at http://slackware.org.uk/3rd-party/alien/restricted_slackbuilds/

vlctest: updated to 0.9.2. This is the first 0.9 release to be available from
videolan.org in binary format (for Windows, OS/X and some Linux distros) so
I may use this version to replace my 'vlc' package which is at 0.8.6i
currently. However, my vlc-0.9.2 package seems not to be able to play DVD's
(some other packagers, not all, claim the same) so I will replace nothing
  until I can play DVD's.

pidgin: update to 2.5.1 - note that my version uses the Mozilla NSS libraries
(provided by Seamonkey) for SSL support, whereas the official Slackware
package uses gnutls for the SSL support.
vde: update to 2.2.2 - this version has explicit support for kvm (as well as
  for qemu like before).
vlctest: added 0.9.1 - this is the first vlc-0.9.x package that I upload. The
vlc developers still consider 0.9.x not good enough to release official
binaries themselves. This vlc 0.9.x no longer uses a wxWidgets based GUI,
but uses Qt4 instead. I have built the Qt4 libraries into this package which
adds about 8MB to it's size. If you already have Qt4 installed you should
definitely rebuild the package using "STATIC_QT4=NO ./vlc.SlackBuild" which
will save some space on your hard drive (and it will also pull in support
for MP3/AAC/AMR audio encoding which I left out of the package because these
encoders suffer from patent issues). Apart from Qt4, I also updated almost
all supporting libraries (ffmpeg etc). And finally: you do not need to
install anything else, this package has no external dependencies (well OK if
you want to watch encrypted DVD's you will have to install libdvdcss).
