Hey. My machines generally doesn't even have a floppy drive
(okay, latest have one...) so you wont hide the floppy
boot/root/net, I need them to boot and install things like
slack-current over network :-)

Anyway, there's probably something's wrong in your methodology,
root disks shouldn't take more than 1.44M, but if you have only
one disk for boot/root.

Could we have a closer look to what you do ? "debugging" is
difficult by the only thinking way :)
