Please verify that you've installed the kdebase package and that the
/var/X11R6/lib/xinit/xinitrc.kde file exists. The portion of setup that
configures the window manager just looks at /var/X11R6/lib/xinit, and puts
up a choice for each file that it finds in that directory. If the kdebase
package was not installed (or is missing its xinitrc file), that would be
the cause of the problem.

Also, does running "xwmconfig" offer you a KDE choice?
