Well, updates have started to flow from my secret underground labs once
again :) I've kept up-to-date with the Intel -current stuff, including
the new GIMP, Ghostscript, and sendmail. I'm just about to sync out
another group of fixes that will include modutils-2.3.24, which has not
yet made it into the Intel version.
It's getting close on the demo discs, though. I've been told that masters
need to be ready by Monday, at the latest. So everyone please look for
those critical bugs and see if we can get them ironed out within a day or
two.
I'm also going to bump the kernel up to 2.2.18, probably by tomorrow.
Here's the thing on the kernel builds - I'd like to get everything figured
out in time to master a disc. So, I'm going to use the existing generic.s
configs and use those for 2.2.18 (yes, I have updated them). Then, I'm
going to take the configs that Jesper and Octave made up and build
additional kernels from those files. They will go in the proper place in
/kernels. Scared yet? :)
I'll also be throwing pcmcia stuff into the A series, and hopefully an X
4.0.2 set of packages into /contrib. They will probably be of the highest
degree of sloppiness, but they will be working and made into easily
removable packages.
One additional thing - I'd like to offer everyone on the list one of the
demo discs. If I'm going to be handing out discs to interested people at
the show, I think you all should have one too. I mean, you've been doing
actual work on this stuff. So, if you'd be interested in getting one of
the first batch of actual Slackware Alpha demo discs (non-bootable and no
source), please privately send me your mailing address. I'll either
instruct someone at the office to send you one, or send it myself.
Thanks!
