A quote from the INSTALL file:
”Once you start to make partitions,
leave about five megs free at the very beginning of the drive. This is
where you will install aboot to later on.”
In my experience, leaving 2MB free is quite enough, if you want to be on
the safe side say 3MB, but 5MB is overdoing it.
I know, I know, hard disks are so big these days that a few megs does not
matter, but there's still no reason to waste diskspace for no purpose.
