Thats what I was thinking. I know that the Compaq compiler has a switch
to use on the the lower 32bits (can't remember exactly what they call
it)
and that is how they get Netscape to run under Tru64 (netscape is not
64-bit
clean either). I believe that the debian people patched gcc to include
the same functionality, we might want to look into it.

This is going to be much more of a problem later on with other arches
from Intel
and AMD that are going 64bit. I would guess that most code is not 64bit
clean.
