I can only get the bottom half of the kernel messages because i dunno
any
'shift+page up' on a sparc system, and no that didnt work. but as far as
i can tell, there are no errors from the kernel accept the warning about
not being able to open an initial console.
btw, these are the stats of the 2 sparc IPX's I have
~~~Sparc IPX #1
32mb ram, 1gb drive, 40mhz cpu, and a broken PROM,im ordering a new one
from mouser.com
~~~Sparc IPX #2
32mb ram, 1gb drive, 80mhz cpu(power-up chip), with a working PROM chip.
IPX #1
boots to the SILO boot prompt, no arguments i pass work, so i try
enter, gives me the error "the IDPROM contents are invalid" after
attempting to load the ramdisk(i dont get as far as the black foreground
with the pretty little Tux picture).
IPX #2
boots to the SILO boot prompt, no arguments i pass work, i hit
enter, loads the kernel and ramdisk but then gives me the warning
'unable to open initial console.'
when i first boot the IPX's, it does the ram check(takes forever) and
PROM test for the MAC address of the nic. then takes me to the '>'
prompt, type 'n' for new command and takes me to the 'ok' prompt i tried
from there
'ok boot cdrom root=/dev/ram ramdisk_size=5120k' and it boots the cdrom,
but nothing else, basically, those extra arguments are not passed. i
tried passing them at the SILO boot prompt, no go, i tried root=/memory,
root=/sbus/ram, root=/sbus/memory... none of the above worked. so i am
still stuck, no successful install yet!
