I just synced out a collection of updates, a new version of binutils,
replaced egcs with gcc 2.95.2, and upgraded to glibc 2.2.
Some notes:
Don't upgradepkg glibc. Or do, and tell me what happens. It failed on
the test machine here, so either do a reinstall, or manually move the
machine to glibc 2.2. I can explain the latter to everyone, if there's
enough demand. :)
Be sure to remove the three egcs 1.1.2 packages and install the gcc
2.95.2 packages. Don't get rid of the egcs64 package, this is needed
to compile the kernel if you're on an UltraSPARC system.
The new binutils is basically just an upgradepkg operation:
upgradepkg binutils-2.10.0.24-sparc-2%binutils-2.10.0.33-sparc-1
Right now I'm working on getting X to go on the new Ultra 60. I've
discovered quite a few interesting things. Like you don't even need an
XF86Config file if you use the Xsun, XsunMono, or Xsun24 servers. Plus
some issues surrounding the mouse and X. I'm documenting some of these
things on the FAQ.TXT file. If you figure out interesting stuff, do let
me know. I'm not using a 32-bit SPARC machine as a primary machine, so
those of you in that camp, I really need your help to work out specific
issues and configuration problems.
