This looks like an interesting system. UltraSparc 400 MHz, 128 MB
of PC133 std RAM, 20 gig IDE drive (brand unknown), dual ethernet,
Solaris 8, 1U rack mount, for $995. I think I might try to get me
one of these and see if Slackware will run on it. As far as I can
see it has no video or CDROM, but these things are typically not
needed for racked servers. I guess it's network booting to install
or rescue the machine.
I'm thinking of these for field deployment at client sites for use
as remote firewall/servers. This may be just the thing I need, so
I'm glad we got Slackware going on Sparc, including serial console
support (as these need). They are PCI based, but I suspect that
will be just like other UltraSparc PCI.
Anyone have any experience with these, yet?
