This is sounding more and more like issues between the kernel version and
the version of aboot. Until we hear something from the aboot people,
though, I don't really know what to do about it. At this point, I'd say
the best bet is to try the 2.2.18pre kernels and seeing if they work any
better.

Good! I was getting worried that I might have to rebuild all the X stuff.
Additionally, I was successfully able to build X 4.0.1 last night from our
Slackware package source. xterm also built. Yay! I haven't worked on
packaging it yet, because packaging X is no fun at all (even though 4.0.1
is currently only two packages).

I'm personally hoping that, by the time this port is ready, we will have
moved over to X 4.x in the distribution. That will make things a lot
easier, I think.
