This sounds like a great comprimize. That would make the installer
aware of the issue and enable uthe serial consol during install. Sure
beats getting surprized later!

Although, it your only concern is another root accessable point, maybe
we could enable logon on ttyS0 and disable root logins from it. That
would make it available but people would have to su to root. We are all
doing that anyways, right? ;)
