Ok, I finally drug my U5 into work to start testing this. I'm getting
the same problem with the "Warning: unable to open an initial console"
error.

David, I tried your suggested fix above and SILO complains about:

  Your imagename 'root=dev/ram' and arguements 'ramdisk_size=5120k' have
  either wrong syntax of describe a label which is not present in
  silo.conf

Any hints? :)
