Hi Chris,
I know I've been a late on making any posts. But here
is where I'm at. The boot and root disks are working!
I've gone through an install, several actually to test
things out. I ran into the /bin/ash problem that was
in probe. I see that you fixed that already:) I've
tested out installing from NFS, since I ran out of
space on my 4gig disk in the miata. So I'm rsyncing to
my Tru64 box and sharing the directory out. Setup asks
all of the questions, and I'm able to type in all of
the requested info. It mounts the directory, however
there is a problem in the script that I'm working on
tracking down. When it goes to the command line to
show any errors that may happen during the NFS
startup, it freezes at the "yes/no" question as to if
there were any errors and if you want to redo this. I
have to Crtl-C out of it.. which seems to break the
shell. Luckily, there are other virtual terms, so I
switch over and mount the directory manually and it
works. I've tried out the full, menu, and expert
install. They all work fine, no problems;) The only
package that I saw that had nothing in it's
description was the texinfo package. My disklabel got
corrupted, some how, and so I lost everything on the
miata. So right now I'm trying an install from
scratch. I've been working on a list of packages that
I've tested out and will email that to you hopefully
tonight. I just need to get a working system again so
that I can continue on.
As for what to demo, everyone has already said the
blender, KDE, xfract, mpegs, and other flashing stuff.
The only other thing I could think of is to have some
POV-ray examples to render. Another good thing is
seti@home. All of those should grab peoples attention.
Remember to have a slackware logo background.. that
says something like "Slackware Linux AXP"... that
should turn some heads as well. If you want, I can
draw something out for a background in the gimp.
As soon as I have things working again I'll try to
track down that bug in the NFS install portion of
setup. I'll also try to finish the list of tested
packages to you tonight.
